The Dynamic Acoustic Stylings of Rodrigo y Gabriela

      
               Everybody loves playing the electric guitar with all its fancy tones, effects, and rock n roll vibes, but everybody should appreciate what inspired that electronic wonder; the acoustic guitar! (Well in this case the classical guitar tricked out with nylon strings, but we're keeping thins simple here) There are many astonishing acoustic guitar players out there, but my favorite is hands down is the blissful pairing of Rodrigo y Gabriela!
               These two had a very adventurous start in their music careers, beginning in Mexico City where they met each other after joining a local heavy metal group. One of their biggest inspirations is the all mighty Metallica, which drew the pair closer to each other in their song writing conundrums.(the duo are indeed married, which is just simply romantic) After gaining new found love for their classical guitar playing, the two set for Dublin Germany to make a name for themselves. In their many interviews, they tell many stories on how they would sleep under bridges and be ready to play outside a restaurant or hotel the very next day. They worked vigorously and never doubted their music, which in turn paid off for them. Rodrigo y Gabriela began to receive many show offers in Dublin, setting them up for a long road of success! One good show led to their next great show, and the rest practically writes itself!
             On to their musical prowess; what I love most about these two is their never ending connection between their guitar playing. Rodrigo is in charge of all the leads and voicing as he is a top-notch player, incorporating very melodic scale runs, with precision and grace. Seriously, no phrasing or solos are thrown in here jut for the hell of it. Every single flurry of notes has meaning to the song, encompassing a well written and passionate musical love note. Then we have the wonderful Gabriela handling the rhythm sections, and what a breath of fresh air she is! Her lightning fast right-hand strumming is a sight to behold, always keeping a high energy tempo, yet constraining herself during slow melodic sections.
               Their song at the top is a live performance of "Diablo Rojo." Just two Spanish guitars, a massive energetic crowd, and one great show! I am a simple minded guitarist, and I like Rodrigo y Gabriela like I enjoy Batman and Robin!

Okay to be Prideful?

The sin of pride is deemed the worst sin of all. Anybody can tell someone not to be greedy, envious, or lustful, but what does it mean to not be proud? In the Biblical sense, it means that it is sin to hold oneself above one’s neighbors, family, or worse, God himself. But it would be nearly sacrilegious for most rappers to "not"think of themselves so highly. Hell, thanks to Kanye it’s even become common practice for rappers to literally call themselves God. You constantly hear people talking down on artists with no pride in their work: The sell-outs, the lazy-asses, the shameless dumb-downers, etc. So why, then, would I advise you to not have pride? To paraphrase my high school English teacher, it’s because art is about showing, not telling. If you make something great, you have to sit back and let the world realize it for themselves. Friends Come in All Shapes and Sizes

It is easy to understand how music can bring people together. Concerts, clubs, music festivals, the list can go on. The beauty is in the first sentence; it is easy. Across the many individuals I've met, every single one of them enjoys an artist, a genre, an instrument, anything music related! It is a conversation facilitator, it can bring about agreements, as well as arguments, among people. However, that is the important part; communicating. When people communicate, bonds are formed, friendships are made, and relationships flourish.
