The Humble Admirations of A Simple Minded Guitarist

A good afternoon and a mighty fine salutations to my dear readers and fellow six string players! (Or you crazy 7 or 8 string players) Consider this blog and the posts that follow an awe inspiring admiration for a wide assortment of all the blunders and wonders that derive from the guitar world. Do not worry Bass players, for your refined and well kept secrecy of the low end frequencies are to be praised here as well! For starters, I am completely new to blogging, so I am still learning how to organize my posts and my endless jargon that accompanies it. Hopefully, as I become more acquainted with this fancy blog machine, my future posts will be much more structured!
For now, let us just dive right into it. I guess a bit about myself is needed: I am not a fantastic guitarist, let alone an average one. To sum it up, I enjoy playing guitar like I enjoy a nice chicken fried steak; I just eat it and enjoy it! (Or in this case play it and enjoy it) Playing guitar and creating music is my hobby and will forever be. I never try to take it too seriously, because that is when the fun gets sucked out of it. However, I do have a basic understanding of music theory and I know a major skill or two that can get me through a jam session. I know that it is VERY important to practice and hone your playing in order to access many techniques that can increase your arsenal of music prowess, but I always take that with a light hearted approach.
So as for one of my first admirations in the thriving guitar world, is my love for the almighty Power Chord!! I remember learning my basic chords like G major and A major, but when I got to F major and realized the chord shape can be played practically anywhere on the neck of the guitar, I was extremely stoked!! I got the instant satisfaction of feeling like a rock star! It was amazing to just slap together a 4 chord structured song, composed only of power chords, and voila! Music was just blasting out of my guitar! It breaks my heart when fellow guitar players talk down on those of who continue to play power chords in our songs, but hey a big snarky smile and an overwhelming sense of pride will scare those haters away! I am sure they remember the joys of churning out their first songs or realizing you can play Paranoid by Black Sabbath with the ease of the power chord formation.
Of course there is the pleasure of playing a C minor 7th chord in the fifth position, but hey that is a post for another day.
I am a simple minded guitarist, and I enjoy power chords like a good chicken fried steak.
